Earlier this week, the Frock and Frill team headed to city centre bar, The Botanist, to attend a Cocktail Masterclass with head bartender, James Henderson. We arrived and were seated around the bar whilst James - who by the way has built his very own bar in his apartment - gave us some background information and industry secrets.

This September, The Botanist joined forces with children's charity Barnardo's to raise money and awareness in order to make a difference to the lives of young people in the UK by sharing in the charity's ethos of believing in children.

Throughout September, The Botanist donated 150 hours of staff time at each of its nationwide sites to support local Barnardo's projects. This included inspiring activities such as CV writing workshops and practice interviews held by Botanist staff members for young adults in the community.

This charitable activity continued onto the Botanist's extensive menu, where a special September cocktail, "The Believer" was created especially for Barnado's, with £1 donated to the charity with each cocktail sold.

During our masterclass, James taught us how to create "The Believer", a gin-based cocktail with fresh strawberries and elderflower, perfect for a Friday evening treat!

2 Strawberries (muddled)*

10/15ml Fraise Syrup

15ml Elderflower Cordial

15ml Fresh Lemon Juice

15ml Licor 43

45ml Tanqueray Gin

Shake all of the above and top with tonic!

*muddled means to press or squash fresh ingredients against the side of the glass to release flavour and bind ingredients!
